A brass band in Suphanburi province has an average of 10-15 musicians. Many brass band musicians have played in the orchestra before. Most of the songs played out are Thai and popular country songs respectively.
Suphanburi has many local artists, the Pi Phat band, the brass band, as well as many retro bands with most members of these bands usually maintaining farming as their main occupation.
The brass band has a wide variety of musical instruments such as saxophones, clarinets, trumpets, trombones, baritones, large drums, etc. The bands accept both auspicious and inauspicious works. 90% of Suphanburi people use the services of the bands in the Buddhist ordination ceremony as well as other ceremonies. The melodies of each song from the grandparents period are transmitted by words of mouth. A service fee for playing music at an event is called a ‘meal’, with one meal costing approximately 8,000 baht and two meals costing approximately 15,000 - 20,000 baht.
